The browser warns that the website is unsafe

A certificate error and a malicious content warning are not the same thing. See what to save and why just renewing your SSL may not solve the problem.

The first step

Save the full message and error code. The connection privacy issue and the unsafe content warning require different paths of investigation.

A warning may discourage a customer from entering. What matters for recognition is which program displays them and what exactly it reports.

A valid certificate does not prove the absence of malicious content. The certificate error is also not a standalone evidence of WordPress infection.

Similar symptom. Various reasons.

Is the message related to the connection and certificate?
We need an error code, exact address, date and device information. The cause may be related to the site, configuration, or local environment.
Does the warning mention malware, phishing or dangerous content?
This requires recognition of the content and possible procedure of the warning operator. Certificate renewal is not a site cleanup.
Does it warn one program or several?
Tool results may vary. We keep names and dates, but we do not treat a single green scan as confirmation of the entire installation.

Without changing files and settings

What you can check yourself

  1. Keep warning dump with address bar, no lock bypass.
  2. Save the code, time, browser and device.
  3. Check your hosting message or security tab in your own Search Console if you use one.
  4. Note whether the warning was shown by the customer or whether you also see it in yourself.

What solutions make sense

First, we classify the message and check its source. The scope may be certificate and configuration related or may require security diagnostics with access to the installation.

Once the cause is removed, a separate step may remain for the warning operator. The timing of its update is not under the contractor's control. The summary should explain what has been fixed and what is still expected.

After the work is done

This is how you will know that the topic is proven

  • Valid domain and connection variant checked.
  • The cause was explained to the extent that could be confirmed.
  • Determined whether a step with an external operator is needed.
  • You have a summary of the work, not just the new result of one scanner.

Prepare a description for reporting

Complete what you know. “I don't know” is also an answer. You can copy the text or save it as a file.

This field does not send anything. Don't enter passwords, recovery codes or customer details. After refreshing, your changes may disappear.

Would you like to pass the matter on?

To start with, all you need is an address, a symptom and the moment you noticed it. We will arrange the rest if necessary.

Technical basis

The guide helps you sort out the symptom. It is not a diagnosis of your installation. The details depend on the tool used and its version.
