Google shows unfamiliar titles, casino ads or unwanted pages

A foreign result under the company domain requires checking. See how to separate the current page content from the indexing history and prepare a report.

Guide · unwanted content and warnings · content review: October 20, 2026

Start here

The first step

Keep an example of the result and the address, but don't proceed further because of the warnings. Separately, you need to check today's response of the page and what the search engine remembers after reading it earlier.

The owner may see the correct home page and find advertisements for casinos, medicines or unknown languages under his domain in the search engine. This is an important signal to recognize, especially when there are more similar addresses.

Not every old entry in the Google tool confirms an ongoing infection. Also, don't consider a page clean just because one entry looks normal. A comparison of specific addresses and current responses is needed.

Two separate questions to check

What does the site return today? The right offer, unwanted content, redirection or no page?

What does Google show?Current result or information after a previous reading?

The discrepancy requires explanation. One valid input and one old result do not confirm the condition of the entire installation.

Similar symptom. Various reasons.

Is the suspicious address still posting unwanted content?
This is a question for the contractor to safely review. Current content, redirection, 404 error and old read date are different results.
Does Search Console show a security issue?
If you have your own access, please keep the issue name and sample addresses. The examples in the report do not have to cover the entire scope.
Has the site been previously cleaned or rebuilt?
A date and description of the work are needed. It is necessary to separate the removal of the active cause from organizing old addresses and the status of the search engine.

Without changing files and settings

What you can check yourself

  1. Write down the date you noticed it and some examples of addresses from the results.
  2. Keep your hosting or your own Search Console message, if any.
  3. Describe whether the problem is also visible on the page and whether there is a redirect.
  4. Record previous repairs without deleting available evidence and copies.

What solutions make sense

First, the indicated results and dates are documented. Access to files and database may be needed to check the installation. The public view only shows what the page returned on a particular input.

Once an active problem has been resolved, old addresses are evaluated. You need to determine whether they should display the correct content, redirect to its equivalent, or return a missing page. Organizing the Google index is a separate step.

What does this mean for migration from WordPress?

With a simple site, once you get the hang of it, you can evaluate moving to the new code without WordPress. We do not copy infected content without checking it. The new technology does not automatically remove old Google results or the problems of your entire hosting account.

From observation to the next step

Step by step example

Model scenario. It shows the way of reasoning, it does not describe the completed order.

Google shows unwanted content, but the main one looks correct.

Suppose your search result has a foreign title. After entering the domain itself, you see the company's usual offer.

  1. Exact addresses have not been compared yet.

The result may lead to a page or to the same main page with a description after previous reading. The correct appearance of one entrance does not determine the condition of the website.

Next step: Write down the address from the result and the address of the normally viewed page and the available message from Search Console. Don't open suspicious content repeatedly to prove it.

  2. You need to determine what the specified address currently returns.

Active unwanted content requires action other than the correct absence of the former page or correct redirection.

Next step: The contractor checks the answer and the remaining scope of the installation. The result relates to the finding, instead of basing the diagnosis on the appearance of the page alone.

  3. After the work at Google, the old description remains.

This in itself is not evidence of relapse. It also does not confirm that the entire site has been cleaned.

Next step: Separate confirmation of current status from search engine activity. Determine if a security reassessment or another address reading is needed.

After the work is done

This is how you will know that the topic is proven

  • For the specified addresses, it is known what they are currently displaying or where they are moving to.
  • Work performed and areas that were not checked are described.
  • Support for old addresses has been established.
  • You know if you need a further step in Google Search Console or with your hosting.

Prepare a description for reporting

Complete what you know. “I don't know” is also an answer. You can copy the text or save it as a file.

This field does not send anything. Don't enter passwords, recovery codes or customer details. After refreshing, your changes may disappear.

Would you like to pass the matter on?

To start with, all you need is an address, a symptom and the moment you noticed it. We will arrange the rest if necessary.

Technical basis

The guide helps you sort out the symptom. It is not a diagnosis of your installation. The details depend on the tool used and its version.
