The first step
Split the bill into the following items: domain, web hosting, email, copies, licenses and service. Only then compare the cost of keeping the site with the cost of changing it. The number of pages alone does not explain the entire invoice.
The price of the first term and the price of renewal may vary. The package can also host several domains, employee mailboxes or other company materials. The cheapest new hosting doesn't necessarily have to offer the same coverage.
With a simple website, it's worth checking what you're paying for and what you're actually using. The goal is a conscious calculation, not a promise of savings calculated from other people's random amounts.
Similar symptom. Various reasons.
- Which items apply only to this page?
- If the hosting also hosts email and other sites, you cannot assign the entire invoice to one small site or assume that the cost will disappear completely.
- Are you comparing introductory or renewal price?
- Check next year's billing period and terms. The one-time promotion does not describe the cost of further maintenance.
- What do you have to pay when moving?
- Take into account the work itself, the service overlap period and any e-mail handling. Annual savings and first year balance are different numbers.
Without changing files and settings
What you can check yourself
- Collect your latest invoice and your next renewal offer.
- List the domains, mailboxes and other sites that use the package.
- Check the cost of renewing your new offer, not just the promotional banner.
- Enter your own amounts into the cost calculator and separate one-time work from annual fees.
What solutions make sense
The comparison should include the current scope, the required scope after the change and the transition costs. If most of the fee is for needed email or a few services, just moving the web may have less effect than the first bill suggests.
Before resigning from the current package, you must confirm the provision of the necessary services and the availability of materials. The renewal date is information for planning your work, not a reason to accidentally disable your account.
What does this mean for migration from WordPress?
Moving a simple page from WordPress may reduce application maintenance. You still need a domain, a place to publish, and support for changes. Free hosting or a specific level of savings are not an automatic part of the migration.
After the work is done
This is how you will know that the topic is proven
- The comparison covers the same needed range of services.
- Annual fees and one-time work are separated.
- You know which old services can be terminated and from when.
- The data and email you need remains available after the change.
Prepare a description for reporting
Complete what you know. “I don't know” is also an answer. You can copy the text or save it as a file.
This field does not send anything. Don't enter passwords, recovery codes or customer details. After refreshing, your changes may disappear.
